All-Island Cup: Group Stage Round 1 Round-Up

The All-Island Cup kicked off over the weekend with all 16 teams in action.

Group A

Peamount United 2-2 Linfield
Peas rescued a point late on having taken the lead early against Linfield. Ellen Dolan put Peas in front early on. In the second half Keri Halliday equalized for Linfield just after the hour mark before she put the away side in front from the penalty spot. Louise Masterson scored late on to level things up.

Bohemmians 4-0 Lisburn

Bohs had the game wrapped up before halftime, with goals from Katie Lovely, Savannah Kane and Aoife Brennan. The Dublin side rang the changes in the second half before Alannah McEvoy scored a 4th.

Group B

Cork City 2-2 Wexford
It was Cork’s most impressive performance of the season so far as they twice pegged Wexford back. Orlaith Conlon opened the scoring before Dorothea Greulich equalized in added time at the end of the first half. But Wexford would go in at the break in front with Ciara Rossiter scoring a minute later. Colleen Kennedy scored early in the 2nd half to ensure the spoils were shared.

Cliftonville 1-1 Shelbourne
There was nothing separate the sides as Marissa Callaghan cancelled out Jemma Quinn’s early goal.

Group C

DLR Waves 0-1 Crusaders Stikers
At a windy Whitehall Stadium Crusaders picked up a battling 3 points. Moments after Waves captain Jess Gleeson went off injured Amy Givern headed in from a corner to put the away side in front. Both sides had chances but Waves couldn’t find an equalizer.

Treaty United 1-1 Shamrock Rovers
It was a 3rd draw in a row for Shamrock Rovers as they pegged back Treaty. Erin van Dolder put the Limerick side ahead before Aine O’Gorman equalized.

Group D

Sligo Rovers 0-2 Galway United
Title holders Galway continued their 100% start to the season. Two goals from Rola Olusola gave the Tribeswomen the win in the Connacht derby.

Glentoran 2-5 Athlone Town
Athlone pulled away late on to win a frantic game at Blanchflower Stadium. Casey Howe put the President’s Cup winners ahead before Kerry Beattie equalized. Nadene Caldwell then put the home side 2-1 up. Kerryanne Brown equalized for Athlone early in the 2nd half before late goals from Casey Howe, Ciara O’Neill, and Jesi Lynne Rossman secured the victory for the Midlands Club.
