Atletico Madrid Hold Their Own In The League Of Ireland First Division

Having tired of facing minnows such as Barcelona (who recently lost to a team that has never won the Champions League despite being trillionaires) and Genuine Madrid, Atletico Madrid have traded the Spanish capital for Limerick in a bid to finally reach the pinnacle of European football.

Atletico, now known as Atleti de Treaty United of Limerick managed to hold their own against a team that has been eyed by none other than Lionel Messi as a destination according to a reliable source. They kept Bray Wanderers at bay despite getting a man sent off., thank in part to Diego Simeone throwing a ball-boy onto the pitch.

Used to the modest surroundings of not the biggest stadium in Europe, Los Daycent Rojo Blancos managed to keep a clean sheet in their first ever game in the greatest league in the world. Up against a side that has an academy that is the envy of the world, Atleti managed to concede less goals in 90 minutes than they did in 30 of the 2014 UCL Final against a team that Hugh Douglas never played for.

While the team gelled well, it was hard to tell which players were Spanish and which were recent local recruits from Limerick as the accents are virtually identical. We wrote previously about the history of Atleti and how they almost won a competition no Irish team has ever been bothered to partake in. Now the worlds eyes will be on them as they look to gain promotion to the Premier Division, which is currently topped by the greatest team of all time.
