Sevilla have won a 6th Europa League, which is at least twice more than any other team.
Diego Carlos gave away penalties in the Quarter Final, Semi-Final, and Final of the Europa League this season. But it was he who produced the overhead kick that ultimately proved the winning of the game. It went down as a Lukaku own goal. Lukaku had given Inter the lead before de Jong equalized. The Dutchman then put Sevilla in front, but 3 minutes latter they were pegged back by Diego Godin. Carlos had a bicycle kick deflected in by Lukaku late on. Inter couldn’t find an equalizer, despite Bono having to make a late save against Candreva.

- First time Conte hasn’t won a trophy in his first season managing a club side.

- Diego Godin is the first defender to score in both a Champions League and a Europa League Final. He lost both of these games.
Bigger things
Sevilla will now be a top seed in the 20/21 Champions League.
I wish Sevilla would become a consistent champions league team. Surely a lot of the Europa league is there to push teams to improve and a stepping stone to Champions league. It’s time Sevilla done that, their dominance in the competition in the last 10/15 years is quite disappointing on a very strange level. Feel sorry for Lukaku who will also get criticised on twitter/the media, he’s a very good player and treated harshly by many.
– Rodg
Rodg makes a valid point about Sevilla failing to turn their Europa League success into success in Europes premier competition. If the draw is kind to them perhaps they can find their way to the latter stages of the Champions League. They have proven they can beat big teams on their way to Europa League glory. With Barcelona looking shook, maybe Sevilla can begin to challenge in La Liga too.
