Every team in the Women’s Premier Division has now been in action as round 2 of the league saw the first two Dublin derbies of the season take place.

A Miniature Dublin Bus delivered the ball at Dalymount and as always the league delivered on the pitch

Rianna Jarrett and Emily Corbet got off the mark for Wexford Youths this season, with Rianna scoring her first goal since her return and her 100th for the club.
Wexford had most of the attacking play but Sligo leveled things up against the run of things early in the second half. Youths showed character to get back in front and seal the win. Maeve Williams was solid in goal when called upon.
Peamount were made to work for their win against a youthful DLR Waves side. It looked like it would end all square but with five minutes to go Becky Watkins charged down the right and played in a cross, there was a goalmouth scramble and Watkins ended the move she started as the ball deflected off her back and went in.
Jessie Stapleton scored twice to give Shels a relatively straight forward win over Bohs. Stapleton headed home a corner then got a touch on a Megan Smyth-Lynch freekick. Kayla Hamric impressed once again.
Jenna Slattery scored a late winner for Galway United as they battled to a win away to a much improved Cork City.
Jaime Thompson scored a hat trick as Shamrock Rovers eased past Treaty United in their first home game of the season.
As It Stands
Far too early to read into the table but the top 4 will likely feature the same teams at the end of season. Next weekend will see Cork and Treaty desperate to get their first goals of the season if not their first points. Cork were much improved last weekend and will target the game against DLR Waves who are looking to build on a solid performance in defeat against Peamount.
The first televised game of the season will see Shelbourne host Shamrock Rovers. The Hoops will face their first big test after a season of putting together a super team. Shels will be looking to put down a big marker in their search for three in a row.

Ireland midfielder Ruesha Littlejohn has had awful luck in recent months. She was injured during Ireland’s penultimate World Cup Qualifier group game against Finland, and would miss the win over Slovakia and play-off victory against Scotland. Having only recently made her return for Aston Villa in the WSL she’ll again be sidelined after picking up what looked like a serious injury.
Ruesha faces a race against time to get fit for the World Cup, she would without doubt have been a big player in the squad.
We wish Ruesha a speedy recovery.
Louise Quinn headed in Brimingham City’s 2nd goal in a 2-2 draw with Charlton Athletic.
