Bayern Secure Bundesliga Title

Bayern Munich have won the Bundesliga for an 8th consecutive season, and are German Champions for the 30th time. The 8th in-a-row is unprecedented, with the next runs being 3 in-a-rows by both Munich and Mönchengladbach.

Bayern beat relegation threatened Werder Bremen 0 – 1, despite going down to 10-men in the second half when Alphonso Davies was shown a 2nd yellow card. Lewandowski scored the winner just minutes before half time, with the assist coming from Jerome Boateng. The result leaves Bayern 10 points clear of 2nd place Dortmund, who can earn a maximuim of 9 points.

Werder Bremen remain in relegation trouble, they are 17th, 3 points off guaranteed safety. Dortmund, RB Leipzig, and Mönchengladbach sit in the remaining Champions League places, with Bayer Leverkusen in 5th, one point away.

Over the weekend, Paderborn were relegated following a 1 – 0 defeat to Union Berlin.

Bayern Munich have now won 29 Bundesliga titles (as well as one German title before the Bundesliga was formed). This is more then all other German teams combined.
