Peamount United have retained the Women’s National League.
Peamount United 3-1 Shelbourne
Peas came from behind with Aine O’Gorman the hero to claim the WNL title. After a scoreless first half, Shels opened the scoring immediately in the second half. O’Gorman fired in a free kick to equalize. Karen Duggan’s header off a Megan Smyth-Lynch corner put Peas in front with 12 minutes to go. O’Gorman got a second with 4 minutes to go to seal the win.
Wexford Youths 2-2 Cork City
The other game in the WNL was a 4-goal thriller. Lauren Egbuloniu turned in a cross to put the away side in front early on. Wexford were reduced to 10 women after Conlon saw red. Kira Bates Crosbie equalized in the second half with her first senior goal. Crosbie turned provider as she set up Aisling Frawley to finish in the bottom right corner to give Wexford the lead. Katie McCarthy’s lobbed shot found the net to ensure the spoils were shared.
