Connacht will be boosted with 4 additions to their squad next season.
Leinster academy graduates Jack Aungier and Oisin Dowling will head west at the start of July. Prop Aungier made his debut this past season against Dragons in the Pro14, and has made 5 appearances for Leinster. Dowling has made 6 appearances for Leinster over the past two seasons, and has been capped at u20 level.
Sammy Arnold joins having made 44 appearances for Munster. The center had joined Munster in 2016 from Ulster. Arnold made his Ireland debut in the 2018 Autumn Internationals. Conor Oliver played 28 times for Munster. The Back Row was named Munster Academy Player of the Year in 2017. Oliver can play on either Flank, or at number 8.
Leinster also see prop Roman Salanoa depart to join Munster. Salanoa made his debut in the Pro14 against Ulster. He has made a total of 4 appearances for Leinster.
Thoughts
Leinster can feel aggrieved to lose two props, but at least they are going to other provinces. Leinster have the biggest academy and realistically not everyone is going to get game time. It is better for Irish rugby that players are spread out. Naturally Leinster will look to add to their squad.
It’s good to see Connacht make some interpro signings. The provinces was long been raided for talent. They are the smallest province, and should be aided with transfers from other provinces.
